What happens at the first dental examination?
The aim of the first examination is to understand the condition of the teeth, gums and mouth, as well as the concerns, questions and previous experiences that matter to the patient.
We start with a conversation
We discuss why you came, whether there is pain, sensitivity, bleeding or an aesthetic concern. Previous dental treatments, medication, known medical conditions and dental anxiety can also be important to mention.
What happens during the examination?
The dentist examines the teeth, gums, bite and visible areas of the mouth. If needed, an X-ray or another diagnostic step may be recommended, but this is always discussed beforehand.
What happens afterwards?
- we explain the findings clearly,
- we discuss whether anything is urgent,
- we review possible treatment directions,
- we answer the questions that come up.
